If you are a self-funded student or a scholarship holder planning to study in South Korea, it is essential to go through the document attestation process. This guide will provide you with a comprehensive overview of the steps involved in attesting your educational documents. Following these procedures will ensure that your certificates and transcripts are properly authenticated, making your application and visa process smoother.

Step 1: Attestation of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)

Begin by obtaining attestation for your SSC and HSC documents from the education board. You can easily complete this process by visiting the board authorities and submitting the required forms along with the original copies of your certificates. Pay the necessary fees at your nearby Sonali Bank, and within a week, you will receive your attested copies.

Steps to Prepare your document

Step 2: Attestation of University Transcript and Certificate

To attest your university transcript and certificate, visit the exam controller office, ensuring you bring the original copies of these documents. The authorities will assist you in obtaining the attested copies, typically within a day.

Step 3: Attestation from the Ministry of Education

After acquiring the attested copies of your certificates and transcripts, proceed to the Ministry of Education for further attestation. Unlike the previous steps, there is no fee involved in this process. The ministry opens its gates after 10 AM, and you can submit your documents directly without the need for a broker. This convenient process ensures a hassle-free experience. Once your documents are attested here, you can proceed to the next step.

Step 4: Attestation from the Foreign Ministry

Visit the Foreign Ministry to have your documents attested. It is crucial to be mindful of the specific submission and collection times set by the ministry. By adhering to these times, you can complete this step efficiently. At the Foreign Ministry, you can simultaneously obtain attestation for your documents from both ministries, saving time and effort.

Step 5: Communication with the Embassy

Contact the embassy by email to request a date for attesting your documents. They started a reservation service through a link. https://consul.mofa.go.kr/en/main.do

The embassy will respond with a specific time slot. Before going to the embassy, ensure that all your documents are notarized. Arrive at the embassy at least one hour before your scheduled appointment to allow for necessary security checks. The embassy will charge a nominal fee for the attestation, which you can pay as per their guidelines.

Embassy address: Embassy of the Republic of Korea, 4 Madani Avenue Baridhara, Dhaka-1212 Bangladesh

Embassy Email: embdhaka@mofa.go.kr / consuldhaka@mofa.go.kr

Upon completion, you will receive a message notifying you of the attestation status.

Following these steps will enable you to successfully attest your educational documents for studying in South Korea. It is recommended to prepare three sets of attested documents: one set for university submission, another for embassy visa purposes, and a spare set to keep with you when traveling to South Korea. By meticulously completing the document attestation process, you will streamline your application and visa procedures, ensuring a smooth transition to studying in South Korea.
